Zhu Min, Shanghai’s biggest woman, has recently undergone an operation that would soon result in the reduction of most of her unwanted weight. Afterwards, she is hoping to get back into the dating scene within a few months.

Zhu’s doctors at the Shanghai Pudong Hospital performed a procedure called Stomach Intestinal Pylorus-Sparing surgery (SIPS) to limit the amount of fat that her body could take in, reports NetEase (via Shanghaiist). The SIPS surgery, commonly referred to as a sleeve gastrectomy, is a procedure that restricts the small intestines and the bowel to reduce the amount of calories absorbed by the body.

Weighing over 330 lbs (150 kg) and standing at 4′ 9″ (1.5 m) tall, Zhu is considered severely obese, with her computed body mass index at a very high 69.4. Her BMI, which is way beyond the accepted healthy norm of between 18.5 and 25, is reportedly the highest in the city based on the current hospital records in Shanghai.

Zhou’s obesity has so far caused her to suffer several medical conditions such as metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. She also has developed sleep apnea which means that she must wear a respiration machine while sleeping.

Zhu’s surgery, which her doctors deemed a success, reportedly lasted for about five and a half hours.

“Based on her weight-loss rate, she could possibly slim down 60 kg in six months or 80 kg within a year after the surgery,” Zhu’s doctors were quoted as saying by local media.

The procedure has brought more positivity in Zhu’s outlook in life.

“I can wear more beautiful clothes after I lose weight,” Zhu said. “Look, a nurse gave me this ring as a gift, and she’s hoping that after I slim down I can date men and get married.”
